Pencil Drawings & Sketches/4 Critical Steps

To become a good pencil drawing artist takes more time than most artists are willing to give when they first start drawing. It not only takes time and patience, but you need to be incentivized to practice. If you follow these four steps, your skill level will show amazing results. Your work will start to be recognised and the demand for your drawing, or drawings, will increase.

Step 1 to remember in any good pencil drawing is that it will take time. When you start a drawing allow enough time to complete the project without rushing, especially at the end. When you let yourself become absorbed with the drawing, time won't become a factor and this will show in the end results.

Step two is taken when you first start your drawing. Pick a subject that isn't too difficult or so annoying that you feel you will not finish. Ensure the subject is one you can draw with your starter drawing set and not a subject you are going to require different pencils and paper to finish.

Step three is to always focus on your subject and not on your drawing. If you are continually looking at your drawing, you may lose the picture of your subject in your consciousness and you will not be please with your finished drawing.

Step four is that as your art capabilities improve, you will need different pencils. You need to learn different shading and toning methods with softer and harder lead pencils. This will need practice using these different leads and the way to make different hand strokes.

The most important lesson to learn is to trust yourself and your abilities. To become a great artist needs many hours of practice, focus, and commitment. If you commit yourself to these three things you will be very pleased with the professional look of your completed drawing.
